Day 166: Setback

Day 166: Setback

Friday, June 15, 2018

It took weeks of trust-building and rapport to get to this place, where I’d willingly undertake a new stop-motion film so quickly, and where my boy would leap so willingly in front of my camera.

But as one of my old mentors once taught me: weeks, months, even years of hard work can be undone by one stupid and impulsive act.

It’s a lesson I’ve grown to truly despise as I’ve come to realise it’s not so much an observation of the truth as it is an assumption of the very worst in our nature.

I can’t do that to my son, even if he’ll do it to me.

Parenting.

Hard.
