Many men are raised to believe, and act on the belief, that they are entitled to abuse, objectify, and terrorise women.
I believe that.
Many women live in fear, and are routinely forced to make life-changing choices as a result of that fear.
I believe that too.
Passive speech, made out of fear of offending a perceived higher power, is a gendered experience that is uniquely female due to their culture of subservience.
No, I don’t buy that. Many people who employ passive speech are women, but that does not mean women created it. That’s a fancy way of saying correlation is not causation.
I say that as an Chinese man who has been taught never to contradict a Caucasian, male or female, too harshly.
