There is a photo doing the rounds of a Canadian school that has essentially cancelled Mothers Day in order to “celebrate diversity, inclusivity and also nurture our students who are part of non-traditional families”. It could easily have been something I’d receive here.
Speaking as a member of a minority demographic, I don’t understand why self-styled social justice warriors think diversity is celebrated by stamping out everyone else’s celebration. Happiness shouldn’t be achieved by choking it out of others.
It reminds me of the time Sydney lord mayor Clover Moore all but cancelled Christmas for the city, saying “We are cognisant of the fact that in Australia we are a very multicultural society.”
What’s wrong with celebrating the lot?
Diversity does not mean having to be all things to all people at all times. We can try, but sometimes it means you’ll only get some things in some places, and not at all times. Sometimes not even at all, which isn’t ideal… but you know…
