So that happened.
I have no idea how common it is… it sure as hell has never happened to me before.
The only clue we had is this thing I’m holding, which we figured out was the cover to the junction box connecting the house to the power grid, blown off by the lightning strike as evidenced by the black scorch marks on our roof.
My thanks to our friends and neighbours who pitched in to help: it’s weird being the only house in the area that’s blacked out.
Waiting around for emergency services is a bitch.
