Day 67: There’s something to be said for exclusivity

Monday, March 7, 2016

There’s a lot of talk about making things “inclusive”; making sure all races, all religions, all sexual preferences are made to feel welcome. And that’s great.

But is this also the reason every kid now wins a prize during a game of Pass the Parcel? Or why every child wins a trophy whether they place first, second or dead last in a race?

I haven’t really thought it through, to be honest. Maybe they’re completely unrelated. I’m sure it’d make for some interesting conversation.

It’s unfortunate I don’t even get time for intelligent conversation these days, even if it is just to hear someone tell me I’m being an idiot. Even that would be interesting because I’d get to try to figure out why.
