There’s a line from Fight Club that I’ve always liked – “It’s only after you’ve lost everything that you can be truly free to do anything”. I never really understood this mantra until it actually happened, and I question whether anyone can simply be taught its meaning without experiencing it for themselves. I’d like to think it’s why I can let go of things pretty quickly.
But it’s nice to see that this mirror survived the sale of my childhood home, and now resides in my parents’ new home. It’s been in the family for nearly 40 years. For a brief moment, seeing myself again in its reflection took me back to a time where I was free from any worry whatsoever.
