Thursday, May 2, 2013: “Don’t think – feeeeel. It is like a finger pointing a way to the moon.”
My first photographic outing with Indy was to the backyard, where she explored mundane little details like the rosemary growing in the herb patch, the stone stairway and whatnot with the same enthusiasm that I would with, well, whatever it is that I’d shoot.
The weird thing is, she’d been complaining earlier in the day about there not being enough light. I wasn’t sure if she was just parroting something she’d heard me say or if she really meant it, particularly when she proposed to solve the problem by asking me for a torch. So here I am teaching her about how to take advantage of natural light.
It reminded me of a scene from Enter the Dragon. You know, the one that ends with Bruce Lee slapping his student on the head and saying “Don’t concentrate on the finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory.” Except I don’t actually slap her, of course.
