Friday, April 19, 2013: The first of many pennies
I’m nowhere close to being fit for work yet, but there’s too much to do and not enough people qualified to do it. So I go… only to find out one of the critical meetings is cancelled, so my 2IC kindly volunteered to look after things for me so that I can go home. But not before some news I’ve been sitting on about a member of staff is at last confirmed. And, apparently, the news will be broken this afternoon in spite of my absence. For some, it will be disheartening news. For others, it’s a step forward that we need to take. It’ll be my job to rationalise these things for everyone. Part of me is relieved: it’s out there. But there are a few other pennies remaining to drop.
I’d say I’m glad it’s Friday and that I’ll have the weekend to (a) recover; and (b) clear my thoughts, but I have a birthday party to prepare for.
As I was saying yesterday, it never stops.
